Sometimes I take the time to set up a time lapse camera on something I am working on even if it just a quick sketch. It’s fun to watch it happen like this. I uploaded a couple new ones to my youtube channel(opens in new tab) recently.
This one is a charcoal drawing from a very old picture I took many years ago on a regular 35mm camera.
Here is another one. I got this reference off an instagram account of Coach and MMA fighter Elvis over at Orange Theory. I don’t know who the photographer is but I am grateful to them for having the opportunity of the fun of working with the shapes and shadows in my charcoal play time.
I recently purchased this little gadget from Sweetwater, one of my favorite places to go for stuff I don’t really need. This device seems to record quite a bit better than just using the phone recorder. Fun for these simple tracks for the videos.
And so we keep moving forward. Hopefully.
I have a little note pinned to the wall here that says: “Is what I am about to do a step toward or away from what is important?"?
There are so many times in the day where the answer to that would be “probably not”.
But yet, in tiny steps, I feel like I am making some progress… towards what, I don’t know.
A thought:
“If you don't mark your successes, the day your ship comes in could be just another day at the office, and there's no poetry in that.” Glen hansard
This week I was saddened by the passing of Glen Hansard.
I don’t know when I first became aware of Glen Hansard. It was with the Swell Season, many years ago. From the start he hit me hard and stuck with me.
It wasn’t just the songs. He somehow gave himself completely to whatever he was doing. Watching him perform you got the feeling that nothing was being held back. That he was living life fully in those moments.
That is something I admire when I see it. It’s not that I wish I were a musician, but sometimes I wish those moments of freedom and connectivity would offer themselves more often and that I would have the courage to act on them when they do.
